The conference Dynamics, Equations and Applications (DEA 2019) is organized by the Faculty of Applied Mathematics at the AGH University of Science and Technology to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the university. DEA 2019 will take place from 16th to 20th September 2019, in Kraków, and approximately 500 mathematicians are expected to participate in the event.

Pierre-Louis Lions, professor at both the Collège de France and the CEREMADE, Université Paris-Dauphine, will be a plenary speaker. He is a member of the French Academy of Technologies.

Fighting tuberculosis: Four academies, from France and China, are working on a joint project

In order to stem the ongoing global tuberculosis epidemic, two national French academies, the Academy of medicine and the Academy of technologies, aware of the importance of the problem, are preparing with two Chinese academies, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a report comparing the epidemiology, characteristics, diagnostic methods, prevention and treatment in France and China as well as the policies implemented in both countries.

Former Director of the National School for Advanced Study of the Chemical Industries (ENSIC) in Nancy, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the French National Research Agency (ANR) in Paris from 2014 to 2017 and President of Science Europe in Brussels from 2015 to 2017, a non-profit organisation that brings together over forty research funding and research performing organisations from 27 European countries.
