50th Anniversary of the discovery of LASER radiation; joint session of teh Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Sciences of Russia and the National Academy of Technologies of France (NATF)

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the LASER: a joint session of the Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Technologies of France and the Academy of Sciences of Russia, will be held in Paris, Sept 28, 2010 in the context of the Franco-Russian Year and the 50th Anniversary of the discovery of LASER radiation, in collaboration with the CNRS and with the support of the French Ministry in charge of Higher Education, Science and Technology.

The participants will include
Prof. Jean SALENCON, President of the Academy of sciences, Prof. Yuri Sergueevitch OSSIPOV, President of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, Prof. Alain Pompidou, President of the National Academy of Technologies of France (NATF), Alain FUCHS, President of the CNRS, HE Alexander ORLOV, Ambassador of Russia to France


Following the opening welcome addresses by the hosts, the day’s topic will be introduced by Prof. Jaurès Ivanovitch ALFIOROV, Nobel Prize in Physics, Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Russia.

Erich SPITZ, Fellow of the National Academy of Technologies of France (NATF) and of the Academy of Sciences, assisted by Jean-Paul POCHOLLE (Thalès, TRT) who will then lecture on Lasers and ITC and avionics and Prof. Serguei Nikolaevitch BAGAEV, member of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, Laser Physics Institute, will describe How lasers are used at the Russian Laser Physics Institute, followed by Charles LION of the French Atomic Energy Commissariat (CEA) who will close the day with a lecture on Power lasers and Fusion.
